York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Housing Strategy 2015-21

"To enable more new homes and for all housing to be of a quality, type ad size which meets the needs of our urban, rural and coastal communities and supports economic growth."

The York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Housing Strategy 2015-21 sets out the priorities for housing growth and delivery for the sub region, supported by the Housing Board.  The document sets out nine strategic priorities, underpinned by local strategies and action plans. The strategy covers not only the need to deliver more affordable housing, as in previous strategies, but also our ambitions in relation to increasing housing supply overall.

The key aim is to deliver the housing priorities in the York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Strategic Economic Plan and Local Growth Deal. Our approach seeks to increase the rate of housing completions (from an average of 2,700 in 12/13 and 13/14) to around 5,000 new homes per year, based on delivering at the maximum rate provided for by each local authority in its Local Plan. Within this figure, we will work with registered providers and local authorities to increase the provision of affordable homes to around 1,600 per year.

Investing to increase the supply of new homes in the right places across a range of price points is therefore at the core of the strategy. The document sets out how we will  work with our stakeholders to deliver our housing aims and against our strategic priorities.
